Tips to Keep Your Mind Sharp and to Stay Mentally Active

Everyone loves to possess a sharp mind as it’s one of the important keys in life to unlock success. But do you know a sharp mind is not limited to people’s birth quality? every human being has the capability to improve their mind’s sharpness. Today Psychologist Shivani Misri Sadhoo will share some excellent tips to keep your mind sharp at any age:

Never Miss a Good Night’s Sleep
The first thing one should be careful to develop and maintain a sharp mind is to take the adequate daily sleep. Making sure you are getting enough sleep is crucial to keeping your mind in top shape. Sleep deficiency destroys brain cells and leaves you sluggish and forgetful. Lack of sleep also affects mood, motivation, judgment, and our perception of events. So be sure to get those seven to nine hours of sleep every night.

Daily drink Lot of Water
A well-hydrated body, not only keeps your overall metabolism active and efficiently working but it also mental energy. Lack of adequate body water also cause sluggish and sleepy mind state and cause gradual degradation of brain power. One study published in 2006 found that people who consumed more fruit and vegetable juices actually had a decreased chance of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

Belief You Can Do It
A big part of the memory is self-efficacy when it comes to remembering things. if you have repeatedly told yourself that you have a bad memory, or that you don’t remember things easily, you have been conditioning yourself to not remember things well. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Like so many things in life, a strong belief that you can do it is the starting block for success. Start with something small to remember and build up from there. These small successes will establish the confidence you need to remember larger and more important things.

Learn to play a musical instrument
If you strum a guitar or store a tabla it will surely sharpen your memory, your power of recall and protect your mind from the ravages of old age. The process of playing a musical instrument involves a complex list of tasks (like finger placement and remembering the notes, checking your beats etc) that expands your working memory capacity. Over time, your brain will learn to perform more tasks simultaneously without getting overloaded, and you’ll remember information longer.
