Symptoms that Your Job is killing You – Act Before its too late

Do you know job stress today adds to one of the major reasons for depression, anxiety, relationship breakups and develops family issues? Not only that job stress also leads to chronic heart problems, hypertension and destroys one’s sexual life. All corporate jobs and daily commutation are stressful, there is no escape to it, but the real problem lies with the fact that most people realise very late that they are at danger level of job stress.

Delhi’s eminent psychologist and Marriage Counsellor Shivani Misri Sadhoo suggests that if one understand that he/she is at danger level of job stress on time, there are plenty of remedies to avoid major catastrophes on one’s life. Today Psychologist Shivani shares some important signs that indicate one is at danger level of job stress.

1. You are frequently falling ill

It’s not necessary that job deadlines pressure or late working hours alone damages your body and mind. If you are lately complaining about frequent lower-back pain, indigestion, acidity, constipation, stomach infection, migraines, neck strain, spondylitis etc, then go for an immediate complete body check-up not just take medicine for the illness. The chances could be your wrong body posture throughout the day on one chair, consuming less water, eating junk food or taking untimely lunch or too much tea and coffee is damaging your body's metabolism and your organ's functioning.

2. You are having no time for your family

If you’re becoming a stranger to your own family, only seeing them on weekends and missing out on your child’s PTA or school annual function, postponing birthdays and anniversary celebrations, then it’s about time you evaluate your priorities because your job is killing you and your family. Perhaps your wife may accept your situation for a short term but your child won't and they may not express now but they will in next 5 to 10 years down the line.

3. Lack of Concentration and/or Boredom

Studies have shown that even periods of short-term stress can take a serious toll on the areas of the brain responsible for learning and memory, and this degeneration of brain cells may accelerate the effects of old age such as dementia and amnesia. Meanwhile, high levels of tedium can actually increase the risk for strokes. Lack of concentration and boredom kills general productivity and inhibits mental clarity. In the long run, these two factors can culminate in mental disorders.

4. Sexual Problems

The pressures of the workplace may eventually kill your sexual life too. Stress, overexposure to an illuminated computer and mobile screens, and time away from home are proven factors that lead to a decreased libido. Such issues may eventually render you infertile or impotent if they are not addressed as soon as they are noticed. Female employees may risk suffering miscarriages and premature deliveries as a result of long periods of standing or heavy lifting. If you are experiencing these problems, your job may be destroying the relationship and depriving you of future happiness that your marital life would have offered you.

These are some of the ways that your job may be sending you to an early grave. This shouldn’t simply make you paranoid and worried – instead, you should make an evaluation of all the above-described signs.
