Do you avoid asking questions to your partner to avoid rocking the boat in your relationship? This might not be the right approach. A lot of times it is seen that due to shyness, unawareness or due to an extreme desire to preserve romance at any cost, couples do not ask each other the difficult questions that can help build a strong foundation for a stable marriage. Remember if couples don’t deal with essential issues of marital life before they get married, they may have to deal with it all of a sudden, maybe even with the wrong assumptions about what their partner thinks or believes about such issues. That can lead to disappointments down the line. Hence as a marital counselor, I suggest couples to ask the following questions before they decide to get married. No matter how intimidated or awkward one may feel asking these questions, we should try and do it. These questions are designed to spark honest discussions and possibly give couples a chance to spill secrets before it’s too late.
