While one day is left for the day of love to come, the city can already feel the romance in the air. From marketers to retailers to youngsters – everyone seems charged up to impress the world.
For most urban Indian youngsters, Valentine’s Day is no lesser than a festival, for luxury brands, hotels and flower shops it's a day for big business, for some Indian parents, it's a day for worry.
How about married couples, especially who are married for more than a decade? Does Valentine’s Day have any significance to them, should they celebrate this day?
According to Delhi’s top relationship expert and marriage counselor Shivani Misri Sadhoo, “some long term couples may find this day insignificant, they may perceive that Valentine’s Day is only for young people. But they forget that today’s complex lifestyle can turn life very monotonous or even boring and it is now more of duty to ask themselves, “ HOW to make life all that exciting again?” And Valentine’s Day brings just that kind of chance to again recreate the missing spark in the marital life.
A Rose For Each Year Spent Together
Valentine’s Day ideas must create more than just a moment. Rather, look for a tradition that can be done every year. Instead of opting for a bouquet, give your lovable partner a rose (or a flower which they like the most) resembling for each year you have been together. Doing such a thing makes Valentine’s Day a perfect celebration of the relationship. Once the flowers dry, preserve the dried flowers and use them to create a lovely memento. You can keep and seal them inside a scrapbook, turn the flowers into a fragrant patchwork or a piece of wall décor.
Serenade Your Sweetheart
This is one of the best and hearty Valentine’s Day concept for couples. Does not matter if you are a good singer or not, it is the feeling that matters, not the quality of your vocal skills. To make your serenade a success, chose the right song, find the perfect location and ambience. Once it is time to sing, just go for it. You can opt for a solo act or if there is an option of making an even bigger impression by getting some friends to help. Extra voices and instrumentals will certainly not hurt. They would rather enhance performance.
Going For A Camping Date (In Your Backyard)
As your spouse is busy at work or doing errands, set up a tent in the backyard, lead an aisle of rose petals to the tent and text your partner to follow the aisle upon their return. Before you expect them to arrive, have the tent of love ready and add a few special things to create a stunning look. Cover the entire floor with more rose petals, install a few lanterns for light, a blanket and have a delicious meal along with wine (if you prefer it). As for the menu, you cannot go wrong with your spouse’s favorite dish accompanied by a good chocolate dessert.
Volunteer
See Valentine’s Day does not have to be all about romance only. Rather, volunteer and devote time in a worthy cause. Possibilities are, one of the reasons you are with your partner is because of their good heart, so you may choose an organization for social causes that matter to you both and make preparations to help out. Feed the homeless kids at a mission, volunteer at a hospital, or spend time at an animal shelter. Spending time with each other doing a noble deed is a great way for couples to bond. The good thing is, it displays the good in your partner’s soul. Nothing is more valuable than that.

Text Each Other
Nothing is better than Valentine’s Day to re-ignite romance as well as passion. One way to do is exchanging some romantic texts throughout the day. There is no reason why you can’t create up to what your partner can expect in the evening. This is going to make your time together even better. Tease your partner by texting what you will be wearing, what surprise you have in hiding for him/her and allow the excitement to increase. Put your phones to optimal use and once your partner does get home, ease up and offer your warmest welcome.
Recapture Your Youth
It does not matter whether you are 35 or 45 we all have some youth to recapture it. Like younger days were so much exciting and fun. Wasn’t it? Try to act or recreate those days again.
