The Simple Secrets to Stay Happy & Joyful

Happiness is one of the most desired goals in life, yet for most people, it seems elusive and a momentary experience. A person buys his dream car and the day seems like a gift from God, on the second day, the car gets a dent and the same person starts questioning, “why it always happens with me, why I am so unlucky?”. One moment a person enjoys a fabulous dinner and the next moment she gets a call from her in-laws or boss and for next 1 hour her mind struggles to stay in peace.
Renowned psychologist and counselor Shivani Misri Sadhoo say, “Actually happiness is available to all of us and it can exist everywhere and at every moment. You don’t have to chase big dreams to be happy rather if you learn and train yourself to enjoy simple things in life it will truly become happy.” In this article counselor, Shivani Misri Sadhoo shares simple ways to live a happy life.

Do What You Love
We often live our lives by thinking what others will say. Stop doing it. Instead, follow what you love. If your passion is playing guitar, writing poems, or teaching children how to play tennis, make time to do it. You will find that when you are doing what you love, you will be filled with joy. How much better does that look than forcing yourself do something you don't like?

Help Others
Many times when we have achieved our own personal goals, we still feel being empty inside because we have not made a meaningful contribution to someone else's life. When we volunteer and help others, it gives us a good feeling to just be of service to someone else. The impact we make feels fulfilling and everlasting and is an abundant potential source for our own happiness and well-being.

Share with Others
When we share our thoughts, experiences, situations and our abilities with others we feel better for it. A life lived without sharing can become lonely and meaningless. When you share with others, people feel great towards you and supports you to feel more joy in your own life. As they say, sharing is caring.

Be Thankful Always
We often feel that what we have is not appropriate. But when you think of all the things that you have to be grateful or thankful for, you will realize how blessed you already are. Without even realizing it, we take our basic necessities for granted – like a roof above your head providing shelter and plenty of food to eat. By appreciating those things that you already have, you will certainly begin to feel happier in your life.

Smile Often
Just try to notice that smiling more and see how it will affect you internally, as well as those who are around you. You can always afford to give a smile. Smiling can make you look happier even at times if you have to force it, you will still feel better.

Spend Time with Your Loved Ones
Having a family or good friends is really a big blessing. There is no better thing like spending quality time with your loved ones. Humans are social beings, even if you are an introvert or a reserved person. People love spending time with their friends and family for good conversation, bonding, and some laughs and lighter moments. Life is too short to live it completely being alone.

Find Ways to Manage Stress
Never allow the stress to rob of your birthright which is to be happy. Being happy is what you deserve and it is certainly not right to allow stress to get in the way. Practice meditation or chanting which can help you to manage stress and let you feel great.

Discard Negative Thinking
You know that negative thinking always brings you down. So how to stop it?  Opt to become aware of it and try replacing negative thoughts with positive and motivational ideas. Try spending less time with negative people and more with positive or cheerful people.

Give More Gifts
Giving gifts is one of the main reason for being happy. You do not have to give expensive gifts or need to wait for any occasion. You can simply write a good note or a thoughtful mail to lighten someone’s day brighter. Share what you can with all the wonderful people around you.

Practice Forgive and Forget
So often you spend your life by holding a grudge against some person. Holding a grudge against someone will harm you more than the person you are holding it against. Simply question yourself, what would it take for me to let go of the past? And just notice how you feel when you let free your anger for a few seconds. Pay attention instead on a bright future and you'll feel better for it.

Spend Some Time with Nature
People are so busy with all the hustle bustle of a city’s chaotic life. To get out of this try spending some time with nature. It can be very refreshing and renewing when you compare your life with the artificial life in a concrete city. Instead, go and visit some hilly areas, or beaches or some forests where you can see various forms of nature like animals, plants, birds or even fishes. You will feel connected with nature.

Be Yourself
Steve Jobs said famously, that your time is limited, so do not waste it living someone else’s life. Just accept who you are, just be yourself and you will feel the difference.
